This was one of a few that actually had a backlight on the LCD display, with easy to read numbers ….The timer is a cool feature but i dont use it much. Very accurate.

After having a Weight Watcher electronic scale, I paid more for, this is a dream come true. I couldn’t read the other one, so the backlight on this one is great.
I was surprised that the sweet potatoes I’ve been eating are really three portions instead of one! I love this scale. Would have given it five stars, but it is pricey.

Not bad value for the price. Like the bright blue backlight – easy to read. Easy to change b/w oz and g. Tare feature is excellent. Fairly accurate. I am just using it for portion control in the foods I prepare not for chemical preparations or anything!!
Best I have found in this price range.

Echoing all that was said in other reviews, I really liked this scale. But, after regular, careful use at home, the scale’s display suddenly went blank and nothing would revive it. I thought it would last longer than just 6 months. Now I have to figure out how to get warranty repair.

For the money, this is a pretty good scale. On the good side the display is nicely backlit so it’s clearly visible even when a large bowl is placed on top of the scale and casting a shadow. It easily zero’s out so you can weigh as you go in recipes. It easily switches units from metric to English. It’s fairly accurate for most uses.
The negative? Well there are a few. For one, the scale resolution isn’t too precise. It only measures in 1 gram increments, so you can’t weigh anything that weighs less than 1 gram, or where fractions of a gram are important. The scale might read 1 gram, but it could be anywhere between .5 and 1.4 grams. See what I mean? This makes small amounts of things like spices impossible to measure. If a recipe calls for .5 grams of saffron or yeast, you’re screwed. There’s also no feature for toggling between decimals and fractions. Example: you need 1 1/3 pounds of potatoes, but to measure that on this scale you have to know that is equal to 1.33 pounds. It’s no huge deal for anyone even with a working knowledge of how to convert a fraction to a decimal, but it would be more convenient to not have an added layer of thought when making a recipe for the first time.
There is at least one better scale made by Salter, but it’s more expensive. There are also good scales made by the company My Weigh. It’s probably worth it if you only want to buy one scale and want a good one. But, for most people this scale will be fine for cooking purposes and weight management and other such tasks.
