Excellent, easy to use product to weigh and measure food. A must for anyone watching their weight. Perfect for portion control

  2. This product works great, easily convert to grams, fl. oz., lbs, mg and zeros out your weighing container easily. Blue backlight makes it very easy to read and easily “hide” it as a clock on your wall
    Rating: 5 / 5

  3. The Salter 1018 scale is a beautiful object for your kitchen counter with an oversize display backlit in aqua blue. Unfortunately, its good qualities end there.

The frame is made of cheap, silver-painted plastic.

There is no way to get the display to come up in ounces without pressing the kg-lb button first–you have to press it every time. There is also no way to turn off the clock. You will have to haul out the manual twice a year to recall the magic sequence of buttons to reset the time.

The platform is small enough that an eight inch salad plate covers the display. This problem could have been addressed by simply holding the displayed weight for a few seconds after you lift an object from the platform. Instead, the numbers dwindle away to zero immediately.

If the functional design of the Salter 1018 scale matched its looks, it would be a clear winner, but instead it’s just aggravating to use.
