Polder KSC-310-28 Easy Read Digital Glass Top Scale, Silver

  2. We like the Polder digital scale very much. It’s easy to read — as advertised — which is very important to us, and the appearance is attractive, very sleek and modern.

We bought this because it was recommended by America’s Test Kitchen, we have only used it for baking flour so far, but it works and is easy to read.

Have had this scale now for almost a month now. I like the easy-to-read and large LCD display, large glass weigh surface, and streamlined design. Scale is easy to clean and easy to use. Only two buttons: one to tare and for on/off; the other button to switch between English and metric. Glass surface is tempered glass. There is an auto-off after about 1 minute. Displays to the nearest 0.1 oz., and to the nearest gram (though not checked against known weights). Has four large rubber feet pads, so it’s stable and stays put. One unknown is battery life. We shall see. However, does require a relatively common battery size of CR2032 (two). Purchased from Amazon for $40, though I’ve seen it here for as low as $37.82. I was purchased to replace another digital scale which had died on us after about five years. I’m hoping this one will last at least as long.

  5. Looked at many scales and at Food Network’s Alton Brown’s recommendation tried to find a scale to weigh up to 11 pounds. Did not like those that did for various reasons, mostly large size. The Polder weighs up to 6.5 lb. and has proven to be just fine. My main purposes are to weigh flour and other dry ingredients for baking, and for smoothies. My glass blender jar is 3.6 lb and the 6 smoothie ingredients, at 4 oz. each, are another 1.5 lb so well under the max device capacity. Scale is easy and quick to tare as each ingredient is added. Only concern is that when adding liquid ingredients, there is sometimes a delay for the added weight to actually change the display, so add slowly or stop for a second or two until display catches up, otherwise you could easily add too much. As other reviewers mentioned this scale is compact, absurdly simple to use, very easy to clean, works well.
