We bought the scale for starting Weight watchers but it does not do weights in fractions i.e. 1/4 lb etc. Also it was not as pictured. The look of the scale(in the photo)was appealing because of the retro look with the red dial, ours came with a black dial which is just plane boring.

Average thought…its just an average scale and nothing more.

  2. To the reviewer “WorkerB”, who stated, “We bought the scale for starting Weight watchers but it does not do weights in fractions i.e. 1/4 lb etc”

I respond, “Hey dum-dum, fractions of a pound are called ‘ounces.’ If you put the space between your ears to use, you may figure out how to use them. I’ll help you out this once:

a pound is 16 oz. If you were to divide 16 oz into quarters, (i.e. 16 รท 4) you’d find that 1/4 a pound is equivalent to 4 oz. That wasn’t that hard was it? And you’ve discovered that, in a way, this scale (like all others) DOES do fractions, if you understand weights and measures.

Just use your brain, it’s what it’s there for.

Now for the review: I don’t own the item, but I intend to buy it. The only gripe I have is that the scale seems to be designed for use only with the included bowl. I’m used to commercial scales in restaurant kitchens, and they accept just about any bowl or hotel pan for measurement. But the stainless steel construction and simple design, in addition to the good price seem to make up for this limitation.

I got a scale with black numbers and dial – not red, like the scale in the picture you see. Looks bland, not worth the money I paid for it. Plastic parts. I am returning it right now.

ITEM DIFFERENT THEN WHAT I ORDERED. THE PICTURE SHOWED RED AND BLACK WEIGHT NUMBERS FOR DIFFRENCE OF METRIC & STANDARD WEIGHTS, AND THE WEIGHT ARROW WAS RED. WHAT I RECEIVED WAS AN ALL BLACK NUMBERS AND WEIGHT ARROW.

I CONTACTED THEM AND I HAD A REPLACEMENT WITHIN THREE (3) DAYS. I KEPT THIS ONE BUT ONLY THE ARROW WAS RED. THE SERVICE AND COMMUNICATIONS WAS GREAT, BUT THE PRODUCT WAS NOT EXACTLY WHAT I ORDERED AND NEEDED. I COMPROMISED AND KEPT IT.

I am very happy with this item. I use it as a postage meter, and it works perfectly for this task. Actual postage scales are either too expensive or only do ounces. This goes to 11 lbs, which covers 90% of my needs, otherwise the bathroom scale is accurate enough.

This is also not digital, which appeals to some old timers, like myself.

It is made of lightweight metal, not plastic, and the chrome finish is very nice. Its a good looking retro style scale. Highly recommended.
