Works great. Very sensitive and accurate. Simple to use and is well made. It is not made out of cast iron though. That is only its color.

I love this scale. It allows a full 5,000 gram weight instead of the 2,000 gram weight limit available on most scales. I use my scale to keep track of the weight of my pets, and the higher gram limit really helps. I love that it weighs in both grams and pounds, as I can easily see what a 3,000 gram object weighs in pounds with just the touch of a button. It’s small design allows it to be easily stored, yet the display is large enough to read easily.

OK. I’m a sucker for pretty looking utilitarian things. I guess that’s really an oxymoron, but I still fell for it.

I love this scale. I use it mostly for dyeing and knitting purposes. Once I’ve knit a wristlet I can weigh it and the rest of my ball of yarn to see if I have enough to finish! It’s so useful for things like that! Plus having a scale around is indispensable for dyeing wool. Which I love to do.

Five stars for doing what it’s supposed to do and for actually being used instead of sitting in my studio collecting dust!

This is a great little scale. The glass platter sits on top of the scale, but isn’t attached, so you can use it to measure amounts that are too small to be worth getting a bowl out for. The interface is simple and perfect – an ‘on/off/tare’ button, which does what it says, and a button to change the units – it measures in grams, ounces with fractions – 2 1/8 oz, or ounces in decimal form – 2.12 oz. As far as I can tell, the scare is accurate to the gram. I have a set of brass weights for a balance scale calibrated to the gram, and the scale gets the right answer for them.

Now for the negatives – first, I’m not sure where ‘cast iron’ comes from in the description. The base is plastic, and the platter is frosted glass. Still, it’s pretty sturdy, so not really a big deal. Second, with the glass platter centered, you can’t see the display if you’re looking straight down…kind of strange. If you just scoot the plate back a little bit, you can see fine. Also, the unit ‘re-tares’ to zero if it automatically shuts off and you have to turn it back on, which can be unfortunate. The automatic shutoff timeout is fairly long, though; about five minutes or so, I think. It would be nice if it would remember the previous tare setting when it shut off automatically.

Finally, the display updates slightly slower than I’d like. It takes maybe a full second from the time something is added until it stops updating. It isn’t unbearable, though, and about the same as other scales I’ve used. This is the only real negative for me, since I’d rather pour whatever it is and stop at the right time. With this scale, like every other kitchen scale I’ve tried, it’s more “pour and wait, pour and wait, remove a little, wait.”

Despite the minor negatives above, this is still the best digital scale I’ve found so far, so I’m very happy with it.

I really love this scale, it is easy to use. The look is sleek, and is light weight. I have it sitting out for easy use when needed. Looks like a piece of art, to nice to keep in a cabinet.
