Product Description
If you are a diabetic and looking to improve your health by controlling your diet, the EatSmart CarbFactors Scale can help you do just that.
The Guidebook to Carbohydrate Counting accompanying the scale lists 700 foods and their carbohydrate factor. The Carb-Factor is the amount of carbohydrate present in a gram of food. Simply multiplying the weight of your portion size by the carb-factor you can calculate total carbs.
Finding the carbohydrate content of different foods is important for many reasons. For those people who are on a low-carb diet, a carb-restricted diet or for diabetics, counting the amount of carbs in the food that they eat is crucial. One of the most precise methods uses carbohydrate factors or carbohydrate ratio to calculate the amount of carbohydrate in a portion of food.
A Carb-Factor is a number, calculated using USDA data that represents the amount of carbohydrate present per gram of food. Put another way, it is the percentage of a foods total weight that consists of carbohydrates versus other nutrients. To use this method, simply weigh an edible portion of food in grams and multiply it by its carb-factor to calculate the grams of carbohydrates in that portion.
For example the carb-factor for a biscuit with ham and egg is 0.16. Simply weigh the portion you want in grams and multiply it by the carb-factor (0.16) to determine the grams of carbohydrates in the weighted portion.
The Precision Pro Scale included in the package is ultra accurate, precise to .05 ounce / 1 gram increments and perfect for carbohydrate counting. Stop guessing about portion sizes and start living a healthier lifestyle today!
The EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale with Carb Factor Booklet provides you with the necessary tools to accurately count carbs. Best of all, the EatSmart CarbFactors scale is economically priced, making it a phenomenal value as well. Get yours today!

My five year old son was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. After seeing a diabetes educator for the first time, he recommended we begin a intensive educational process in learning the carbohydrate counts in the foods he eats and keeping a daily diary. Needless to say I had quite a tough time trying to eyeball appropriate portions in the foods he likes to eat on a releiable basis. We fell into some bad habits pretty quickly.
After realizing that we needed to make a change we contacted our diabetes educator who recommended we give Carb factors a try. We bought this scale at our CDE’s recommendation. It comes with a booklet of about 700 foods and their associated carb-factor. Now all I do is weigh his food and multiply it by the carb-factor in the booklet.
Before I purchased this scale, I was spending over an hour a day trying to calculate carbs in my sons meals. The biggest time saver now is I have all the information at my fingertips when he goes to the refrigerator and takes sometime to eat. I no longer have to go to the computer (or look it up in a calorie book) and then do the math to figure out the total carbs he is eating. This product has cut down dramatically on the time I was spending counting carbs and more important, I feel that I am doing my job as a parent much better.
THANK YOU EatSmart for this affordable and well-designed product!
