I used this scale in my home kitchen, giving it light use for about five months. The scale was never dropped or otherwise abused. One day, it failed to turn on, displaying what appeared to be a blank readout. After removing and reseating the battery, I was able to see a very faint Low Battery message. I took the battery to my local Radio Shack to purchase a replacement. They tested it, and discovered that it was not low. Since the warranty is only 30 days, I have to buy another scale.
Don’t buy this scale, even if you have to pay a few dollars more.

I really liked this scale both for its slim design and multiple measuring methods. I don’t have to convert metric into english systems or vice versa anymore. And it measures much smaller increments which is great for homebrewing. However, it seems to go through an inordinate number of batteries for the amount we use it. It sits on the counter until I can remember to get a new battery for it, and I just end up using a dinky manual spring scale. That’s fine for larger quantities, but not so much for smaller weights. I don’t need it to be portable, so I wouldn’t be opposed to a cord on it. I probably wouldn’t buy it again.

I weigh my food all of the time, and this scale is not only easy to use, but it is also discrete! I can weigh my meal in a restaurant without any looks from other tables. So glad I found it!

I was looking for a simple kitchen scale with a small form factor as a gift, and this one fits the bill exactly. The price is great, and it has enough features to make it useful for quite a bit. I haven’t had any troubles with the auto-off but make sure you have all your ingredients set out before measuring.
